Operations Manager

Shaw Reyes

My name is Sharisse "Shaw" Reyes, and I’m the Operations Manager at McKinley Care Assisted Living. I’ve been a registered nurse since 2011, and throughout my career, I’ve held tightly to one core belief: everyone deserves a chance, or a second chance.

At McKinley Care, we’ve opened our doors to hundreds of residents who were often turned away elsewhere—people with disabilities, those experiencing homelessness, and individuals who simply needed someone to say “yes” when the world kept saying “no.” It’s been my honor to help create a safe, supportive home for them.

I’m deeply grateful to Dr. Pomerantz for allowing me to grow in this role and for believing in my heart for this work. That trust has shaped who I am, both professionally and personally.

When I’m not at McKinley, I find peace in nature—whether it’s mountain biking through Alaska’s rugged trails or escaping to a quiet tropical place to recharge. This balance helps me return with a full heart, ready to keep serving our residents with compassion, strength, and purpose.

LPN

Khristine Tumada

Aloha! I’m Khristine Tumada, a McKinley Care LPN. I have 13+ years of experience in the healthcare field. I started as a nurse assistant in Saipan and then as a CNA in Hawaii for several years. Later, I spent 6+ years as an LPN at the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific. In 2022, I moved to Alaska in hopes of furthering my career. I landed a position at McKinley Care Assisted Living and have been there for 2 years.

I’m glad to be in a place where teamwork and personal connections truly shine! Working with a dedicated team creates a collaborative and supportive environment.

Together, we tackle challenges, celebrate successes, and build a sense of camaraderie.

Interacting with the residents adds another layer of fulfillment—listening to their stories, sharing laughs, and being there for them in daily life. These relationships can be a source of both inspiration and joy.

Resident Manager

Lima "Tali" Tooala

I began working at McKinley Care in 2022, but my passion for caring for the elderly started long before that, when I was just 18 years old. I have always had a heart for those in need, shaped by my own experiences of going without and understanding the value of compassion and support. Every bit of help counts, and I care for the needy with all my heart. It is a privilege to serve and bring comfort to those who need it most.

Akyra Courtright

Hello, my name is Akyra Courtright. I was born and raised in Anchorage to Kyle and Gwen Dedman, both military service veterans. I graduated from East High School and have a wife and a five-year-old daughter. I started at McKinley Care in 2023 as a caregiver on the swing shift and later moved up to be a lead. I can say that I truly love my job and take care of the residents as if they were my own family.

I love being at McKinley Care Assisted Living because my bosses are incredibly kind and supportive, and my coworkers and I work together as a strong team. Every day is rewarding, especially when I have the opportunity to care for our residents with dementia. Providing them with comfort and support brings me so much fulfillment, and it makes me excited to come to work every day!
